he moves through the crowd like a rock star, trailed by the flotsam of his family and friends. Men in tuxedos stop him, smile, ask for his auto¬graph. Women clad in slinky gowns coo at him with a rapturous look in their eyes. His father ushers over two NFL cheerleaders in hot pants and pushes them to¬ward his son, who looks at them, his eyes half- lidded with disinterest, tugging on his shirt collar. He is an almost-handsome young man of23, tall, with a Beatles mop ofhair falling over his eyes, a broken nose, a missing front tooth, a stubble of beard. In his black suit, black shirt, and white tie, he looks like a character out of the movie Eastern Promises, as played by Jaws from the Bond flicks. Alexander Ovechkin is here at SneakerBall, held in the Washington, the Penguins to the Flyers’ Mike Richards, these new players are being aggressively mar¬keted, not only for their talents but also for their larger-than-life personalities. The stakes are high. In the decade sinceWayne Gretzky skated off into the sunset, hockey has been limp¬ing toward oblivion. It wasn’t that long ago that the sport could legitimately claim its place alongside football, baseball, and bas¬ketball, but 2007′s Stanley Cup produced record-low ratings for NBC, and the vast major¬ity ofgames are shown not on a major network or even ESPN, but on cable’s Versus network along with cycling, bull riding, and SlamBall. Can Ovechkin’s emergence change all that?
Alex the Great has been called the most dangerous scorer in all ofhockey, and his high¬light reels have become YouTube must-sees. As with most prolific scorers, he can strike with a quick flick of his wrists or with a long, arm-sweeping slap shot. Three years ago he scored a goal that’s been called the greatest shot ever, against the Gretzky-coached Phoenix Coyotes. Ovechkin was knocked to the ice; he slid on his back past the Coyotes’ net; then, while still on his back, he reached his stick be¬hind his head and flicked in the puck. Gretzky looked on in disbelief.
« Most skilled scorers are one-dimensional, » says Bruce Boudreau, the Capitals’ coach. « Alex, at 6’2″, 220 pounds, is like a freight train with skills. He’s aggressive, but with a deft touch. He can hit you into next week. » Most Russian players have a reputation for being passion¬less drones, technically proficient but selfish, indifferent, sour, without heart. Boudreau calls them « gloomy, » but as teammate Matt Bradley, 30, says, « Alex is the opposite ofmost Russian players. He likes to mix it up. »
« I like to hit people, » Ovechkin concedes. « I like the dirty work. »
Ovechkin says that when he came to Amer¬ica at 20, he was « scared…homesick…I leave everything, » but still he insisted on rooming with a North American player, not a Russian. « I watch American TV. I want to learn English, be able to talk to people, hang out with team¬mates. » He flashes his gap-toothed grin and adds, « Talk with American girls, too. »
That first year, he spent his free time wan¬dering D.C. to « watch beautiful city with lots of memorials.Watch girls, too. I am from Russia. We have fun. » Despite press reports of Alex’s luxurious mansion full of gorgeous Russian girlfriends, his life was low-key for a sports phenom. Since coming to America, he’s lived at various times with his older brother and his parents. His father, Mikhail, a portly white- haired man who drove a taxi in Moscow, is a romanticwho describes hockey as theater. His

guys who are reserved during sex, » says Lucy, 32. « Maybe they think that’s more masculine, but it makes sex boring. I want somebody who’s excited to be there! » Every woman I spoke to agreed: You can be filthy rich, well- hung, and able to find a G-spot in a haystack, but none of that matters (well, not much, any¬way) if you’re not eager and passionate in the sack. When you’re gung-ho, it makes every¬thing more fun—and cancels out any hang-ups we might have. « It’s hard for me to relax dur¬ing oral sex, » says Trisha, a 28-year-old editor. « But all that changed when I started dating a guywho loved going down on me. He’d get me worked up by saying how much he wanted his face between my thighs. Then he’d tell me how good I tasted. He’d drive the point home by taking his sweet time, and I was sure he loved every second. »
3.    Get Sloppy
Yes, women love to smell nice and obsessively use hand sanitizer. But that doesn’t mean we want our sex lives to be neat and sterile. « There’s nothing hotter than when my boy¬friend and I are drenched in sweat when we’re screwing, » says Lindsay, a 24-year-old waitress. An even better way to get down and dirty? Take your act into the kitchen. Jill, a 28-year-old receptionist, had always fantasized about do¬ing it on a kitchen table—one that had been set for dinner. « I told my boyfriend how hot I thought it would be to be so caught up in the moment that you just sweep everything onto the floor and fuck right there, » she says. « So one night he cooked for me, set the table with plastic plates and cups, and, halfway through, did just that. I didn’t even mind that there were mashed potatoes stuck to my wall. »
4.    Don’t Spare the Rod
It may be hard to believe that anyone could love your package as much as you do, but.. .well, women come pretty damn close. And we want you to use it to its full potential—notjust thrust away like a jackhammer. « I love it when a guy uses his dick to stimulate my clit, similar to a vibrator. Like when he kind of rubs me with it or taps it there really lightly and quickly, » says 29-year-old Lisa, a court reporter.
The truth is, we don’t just want to feel you inside us; we want to see what you’ve got, too. Says 23-year-old grad student Tara: « Some¬times when my ex and Iwere doing it mission¬ary, he’d lift himself up a bit so I could watch him enter me in slow motion. It was likewatch- ing our own porno. » Contrary to popular belief, we don’t really want to gaze into your eyes the whole time we’re screwing. Give us a chance to ogle your manhood instead.

Russell Brand can’t keep his hands to himself . Seconds after we meet the 35-year-old in the lobby
of his New York City hotel, he leans
j ‘
in for a hug and a kiss… and then puts his arm around our shoulder and leads us up to his suite for a quick shag before the paparazzi can spot us. Sigh—in our dreams. The guy is hopelessly in love with his new wife, two-time Cosmo cover gid Katy Perry. We did go to his room, but it was to chat with him about being our Fun Fearless Male of the Year.
On the elevator ride up, Russell, who’s dressed in tight black jeans and a gray sweater, explains his touchy-feely demeanor. « 1 think people like to be touched. They like that connection, and I’m happy to give it to diem, » he says. Of course, wl mt woman ic Oh, and he has a career that's on fire right now. He got ourattention in For-getting Sarah Marshall and Get IIim to the Greek. Anddiis past December, he impressed us with his Shakespeare skills in The Tempest. This year; he has two cool flicks coming out: Arthur (a remake of the '80s comedy) and Hop (he voices die Easter Bunny). And he just released his second book, My Booky \Vook2: This Time Its Personal. We can't think of anyone more fun and fearless than Russell.
What's the most fearless move you've ever made?
1 have to say getting married. It's pretty wild that I'm going to spend the rest of my life with Katy.
0 Wbat about die most fun thing? D Getting married! It was quite fun.
0s< > are you afraid of anything? O Death. 1 won’t be able to walk around in my shoes and be near the
people I love. I have a hunch that diere’s some sort of existence after you die, but I have no idea what that is.
0 You tell very personal stories in your books. Do you ever filter? PI A bit. My mates read the manu¬script first and make sure diere’s noth¬ing stupid or self-destructive in it. My mate Nick is in the books a lot and often says « Fucking hell, that’s not normal. Don’t say diat stuff! »
0 What do you find sexy? O Confidence and vulnerability. It comes down to being true to wl 10 you are and not being imitative. Though women riddled in self-hatred and madness give good blow jobs.
0 Does that mean women with confidence give terrible blow jobs?
□    No, it doesn’t necessarily follow. I am being humorous, of course. It’s best for women to have self-esteem.
0 Have you ever done anything crazy to win over a woman?
□    Once, I hung off the side of a cruise ship just to get a kiss. Keep in mind that I was still a junkie at this point.
0 What’s something you don’t understand about women? D Well, when you come to us widi a problem, you just want to talk about it. For me, a problem is a job. I want to solve it right then. But you just want to talk about it. I often have to push my fingernails into the palm of my hand to stop myself from reacting.
0 What can a woman wear to turn you on?
G I’m not a sophisticated man. I’m from blue-collar ethics, a simpleton of sexual semiotics. If a woman wears gaudy lingerie, I love it. Short skirts, thigh-high boots, cutout tops….
0 What made you fall for Katy? [] Well, she threw a bottle at my headwhen we first met, ai id si le’s beei i doing that in some form or another ever since. The woman I fell in love with is con¬stantly evolving and changing. She’s loving and a beautiful person.
0 How’s married life treating vou? □ it’s amazing! Once you’ve said those diings about commitment, you think, Well, it doesn’t matter if we have some disagreement about what should go where in die fridge. You’re married now, so you’ll just have to deal. I

Ask Him Anything

He teased yon because lie’s insecure. Your (relative) silence is probably mak-ing him worry that you don’t enjoy having sex with him, so he needs some reassurance.
That said, don’t suddenly start giving a tilthv plav- by-playor screaming at ear- shattering deci¬bels. That’ll just take you out of die moment and sound Hike. Instead, find other ways to let him know how much vou want
J
him. Send a hot text while lie ‘s at work, initiate sex more, or grope him under the table at dinner. And if you still want to be more vocal in bed, say¬ing « I’m com¬ing! » is a good place to start.
Recently, though, he told me that he cheated on one of his exes. I’m glad he told me, but why would he wait this long to do so? I’m also really worried now. Does the fact that he cheated on her mean he’s likely to cheat on me as well? ANSWER: You may think he waited a long time to tell you, but I can’t believe he told you so soon. Ifs not exactly a first-date conversation (« I like Mad Men, I try to work out three times a week, and—oh yeah!—I cheated on someone »).
Here’s the thing: Was he very serious about bringing it up, or did he just make an offhand joke about it? If he was clearly nervous about telling you, that’s a good sign—he wouldn’t have both¬ered doing that with someone he saw no future with. But referencing it as if it were a line from the latest episode of 30 Rock could be a red flag. It means he doesn’t think it was that big of a deal.
Regardless, history—e.g., why he cheated in the past—is a pretty good indicator of whether hell do it again. He may truly care about you, but if he said he did it because he had too much to drink or be¬cause he ran into an ex, then you have reason to be wary. After all, those things are bound to happen again. But if there was a specific reason why he did it (the relationship was already a mess, or she had detailed descriptions of my hookups. But the other day while I was doing this, one of my male friends was there and said I was crossing the line. Do men really care if you kiss and tell?
ANSWER: No, they don’t care at all…as long as you’re saying things like « totally amazing, » « the best I’ve ever had, » and « I was not aware it was biologi¬cally possible for it to be that big. »
I’ve heard plenty of men and women describe sexual encounters, and in my experience, the women have always been way more graphic than the guys. So your male friend may have been shocked at how much detail you divulged, par¬ticularly if it was less than complimentary. That would have made him wonder what sorts of things women he’s slept with have said about him, making him uncomfortable.
There’s no reason for you to stop telling friends about your hookups, but you may want to think

memorabilia {including an original New York Times sign that hangs in his study, as well as several pieces of furniture diat once belonged to the Duke and Duchess of Windsor). And who could forget the most adored character to emerge from die Plazas past? Eloise. In a tribute to the children’s-book character, die Hilfigers commissioned the heloved books’ illustrator, Hilary Knight, to create a one-of-a-kind mural in die apartment.

« This is really our first home together, » says the former model turned mommy, 43-year-old Dee. The slender beauty from Rhode Island had been living in Monaco for more than a decade when she met Tommy in Saint-Fropez in 2005. Ihey tied the knot in 2008 after a public split. But today, diey are die very picture of wedded hliss. Close friend Leonard Lauder agrees: « When’lbmmy first introduced me to Dee, 1 immediately saw a marriage made in heaven. They’re so much in harmony with each odier that it is almost hard to tell one from the odier. The two of them will make history. »

In August of last year, diey welcomed son Sebastian into their modern-day Brady Brunch brood of children. From his marriage to ex-wife Susie, Tommy has four: Ally, 25, adown town New York Citygirl-about-town; Rich, 20, an L. A.-based musician;

« We were living in an enormous house in Connecticut, » Tommy recalls of his spacious mansion in Greenwich, which he recently sold for $20 million. (The jet-set couple also have a homein Mustique, where dieir next-door neighbor is longdme friend Mck jagger, and a new place In the suburbs of Connecticut where they spend weekends when they are actually on the East Coast.) « It was way too big. Our children are out and about in the world, and we have only a baby at home now. It’scozier. »

Following a gut renovadon, thegrandiose, European-influenced apartment really does have a cozy feel. « We have bought almost all of die furniture togedier, » says Dee. « We like to go shopping on the weekends. It’s been a real collaboration. » Littered with megawatt pieces like the noir Maison >-
